Staking Technician
Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. (MPEI) has an immediate job opening for the position of Staking Technician located at our company headquarters in Granby, CO. MPEI is an electrical cooperative located in Granby in the north central mountains of Colorado. Applicants must have at least five years’ experience working for electric utilities in distribution line staking and right-of-way/ permit acquisition or equivalent. High school diploma or equivalent and valid Colorado driver’s license required. Experience with GPS, surveying, NESC, RUS standards, AutoCAD, word processing, spread sheet and data base software desirable. Must have experience and demonstrate the ability to work with the public and other team members. This position is responsible for supporting the Engineering team in Staking functions.
The position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties: 1. Acquire easements and permits (BLM, CDOT, Forest Service, railroad, water board, etc.) required for new distribution line construction including: a. Determine land ownership and description from County records. b. Prepare easement and permit documents. c. Negotiate easements with landowners. d. Record and file completed easements. 2. Send letters to County and Town Zoning departments required for subdivision and zoning approval. Coordinate with Utility Coordinating Committee members on new projects. 3. Maintain Joint Use Contract pole attachment billing records and coordinate process for new attachments. 4. Staking Technician/Right-of-Way Technician(s), e.g. new service design (residential & commercial), customer site appointments, primary & secondary overhead & underground line extensions, single & three phase designs, work plan project line conversions and upgrades, staking sheet sketches & units, cost estimates, mapping GPS data collection. 5. Inspect installation of Overhead and Underground projects and provide As-built sheets for mapping, typically within 2 weeks of completion of construction. 6. Design new subdivision layouts using staking software. Coordinate with developers. Manage assigned projects. Coordinate with Operations personnel when questions or problems arise. 7. Maintain updated construction standards, unit costs, and estimates. Help to maintain maps and facilities data base information 8. Provide monthly activity reports on status of all projects. 9. Continuous improvement to maintain high quality and quantity of output by the Engineering Department to the satisfaction of internal and external customers. 10. Strive to maintain good customer relations by providing service requested, answering questions and offering assistance. 11. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to policies, procedures and regulations. 12. Help others by performing other related duties as requested.

Compensation Range $42.56-$52.58/ hour depending on experience.
