UTILITIES ENGINEER (Water/Sewer/Stormwater Engineer)

The City of St. Peters is looking for a motivated engineer to join our Utilities Department to become involved in general civil engineering project work immediately. The Utilities Engineer will hit the ground running, working alongside other engineers in the office and some field engineering work on projects such as: Engineering support/construction oversight of water distribution & wastewater collection system improvements (water main extension projects, sanitary pump stations, plant upgrades); Stormwater management projects (field investigation & resolution of stormwater concerns, conveyance and flood protection projects); and easement negotiations and acquisition and contract management.
We are looking for an engineer with a minimum of 5-years of experience, with a positive attitude, team-oriented, with excellent communication, and project management skills, and a desire to work on a variety of small and large municipal projects.
JOB OBJECTIVES: Under general direction, performs responsible office and field engineering work in the development, operations, maintenance, and repair of City water and wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection system, stormwater management and conveyance systems, and flood protection systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university, with Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) Certification and five (5)-years of responsible engineering experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a Motor Vehicle Operator’s license valid in the state of Missouri.
- Ability to lift and handle a minimum of 75 lbs.
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer application programs.
- Ability to develop, interpret and communicate information from blueprints, plans, and legal descriptions.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal engineering, particularly as they are related to public works, specifically stormwater, water, and sewer.
- Considerable knowledge of construction and maintenance methods, materials, and equipment employed in municipal public works.
- Considerable knowledge of engineering design, surveying, drafting, and specification preparation.
- Working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations related to stormwater
- Practical Experience in GIS techniques and analyses.
- Valid Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Missouri.
EQUIPMENT/VEHICLES (Includes but is not limited to the following):
Calculator; computer workstation; drawing/drafting tools; automobile; surveying equipment such as transit, level, range pole, level rod; 4-wheel drive vehicle; small hand tools.
