Project Engineer/Manager I (Ref# PEM63RP)
Autoliv ASP, Inc. has an opening for the position of Project Engineer/Manager I (Ref# PEM63RP).
Work Location: 1320 Pacific Drive, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Position requires up to 10% domestic & international travel. Position may telecommute/work remotely 2 days per week.
Job Duties: Responsible for leading projects of automotive component design and application engineering, development, and serial production launch for vehicle safety products, and customer program management for automotive safety restraint systems. Responsible for vehicle seatbelts project launch and vehicle crash safety support. Manage the direct communication and interaction with all Autoliv project members in both technical centers and manufacturing facilities. Responsible for direct communication and interaction with customer for project related matters. Lead global cross functional teams in the successful execution of seatbelt projects utilizing Autoliv development processes. Provide project technical support and leadership relating to the design and manufacturing of Autoliv’s seatbelt products supplied to our customers. Ensure that Autoliv products meet all automaker specifications and governmental safety standards. Apply engineering techniques, criteria, and standards for providing recommendations as to changes in the design, engineering, and manufacturing procedures and processes in support of Autoliv’s seatbelt products. Provide a business interface to personnel for all Autoliv's passive restraints. Responsible for providing the voice of Autoliv North America division into global project teams to ensure productive global teamwork leading to positive results for Autoliv globally and locally. Responsible for project costs, schedule, deliverables, and product performance. Interact with Autoliv’s customers and ensure that customer requirements, standards, and specifications are maintained. Support business unit strategies to leverage Autoliv seatbelt technology to differentiate our products based on performance. Use DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis), DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report), APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), DFM (Design for Manufacturability), Six Sigma, BOM (Bill of Materials), DOE (Design of Experiments), Minitab, MATLAB, and MS Office.
Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years in a related occupation including Application Engineer or related automotive experience. Will accept a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field in lieu of the required education and experience. Position requires completion of Bachelor-level (or higher) academic coursework in Design of Experiments. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience as per the requirements cited herein. 40hrs/week.
