American Axle & Manufacturing has openings for Senior Actuation Engineers in Detroit, MI.
Job duties include:
- Leading future definition of all Electromechanical/Mechatronic Products including Powertrain Actuators and Sensors for actuation mechanism architecture.
- Participating in component design and release within the product system from concept through full manufacturing launch in accordance with AAM Product Engineering Product Development Process (PE-PDP) and program management launch gate deliverables.
- Utilizing computer aided design (CAD) such as Siemens NX, CATIA V5 to create component assembly CAD models with parametric designs.
- Analyzing engineering actuation component requirements and developing and executing engineering documentation and work plans to complete project deliverables, including DFMEA, DFM/DFA, 3DCS-tolerance stacks, GD&T dimension schemes, material selection, BoM(s), drawings, models, technical specifications, DVP&R, risk assessments, engineering reports, and issues and problem resolutions
- Utilizing computer aided engineering (CAE) tools to define boundary conditions, load cases and managing 3D CAE execution from CAE services, including dynamic analyses, methods, and results to drive the design of components.
- Performing component FEA assessment, 1D model analyses, and spreadsheet calculations.
- Creating product specification of actuation mechanism.
Position requires: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent foreign education, and 5 years post baccalaureate progressive experience working in the Automotive Mechatronics field is required. 5 years’ experience is required in each of the following:
- Product design and development of electromechanical / mechatronic products including Powertrain Actuators and Sensors.
- Full cycle product launch from concept to start of production within engineering product development processes.
- Working with CAD tools to design components and systems, including working with 3DCS- tolerance stack, CATIA V5.
- Defining CAE analysis needs with boundary conditions, load cases and managing 3D CAE execution from CAE services, including dynamic analyses and assessing results.
- Working with DFMEA, DFM/DFA, DVP&R and BoM
- Working with CAE Tools for Load case analysis, 1D CAE concept creation, parameters and sizing.
Experience may be obtaining concurrently.
